Our Mission: To bring the eternal hope of Jesus Christ to the people of Myanmar by meeting their spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional needs.

Notice Regarding the Political Situation in Myanmar

Because of the COVID restrictions put in place in 2020 and continuing into the present, and because of the current political unrest throughout the country, Myanmar Hope has been forced to scale back operations in certain areas, both for the safety of our volunteers and for the people we work with.

We are still quite active, however, and we are making plans for projects to begin or continue as soon as possible. In the meantime, we have been focusing on relief efforts to families and individuals who have been impacted by the COVID restrictions and the unrest.

We praise God daily for all of you who continue to give generously to support these efforts, and we are extremely thankful for the faith and trust which you put into Myanmar Hope.

If you have any questions, feel free to call us between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time, or email us at info@myanmarhope.org.

Thank you and God bless you!

Charles R Cherry, Director

Hunger Relief

Since April 2020, the poor have suffering from lock-downs, quarantines, and the ravages of war. Hunger is rampant, and people have been reduced to eating rats, snakes, roots, and whatever else they can find. Our Hunger Relief Program is bringing food and supplies to the poorest of the poor, but we can only do that with your help.

Hope Boarding School

Without an education it is nearly impossible for children to escape the devastating chains of extreme poverty. Uneducated youth are easily lured into human trafficking, and girls are especially vulnerable. A good education can change all of that.

New Pathway Home for Widows

Because of widespread poverty many widows are left abandoned, homeless, and starving. Age-old cultural traditions, most of which favor the husband’s family, leave many of these women without a network of support. Now these women have a safe place in which to live out their years in peace, comfort, and security.

East/West Garden Farm

The Kuki people heavily rely on their land, but lack the education and training get the most out of their farms. The East/West Garden is a model farm that provides jobs, training, and support for local and regional farmers, helping them to attain agricultural and economic independence.

New Hope Prison Outreach

Mawlaikalay Prison houses over 2,400 inmates. The conditions are harsh, lonely, and unforgiving. Many of the prisoners are from small remote villages located miles away. Until now, their families have been unable to visit them and bring them much needed food, clothing, and other gifts.

Family Support

c2.jpg

The average income for many families in rural Myanmar is less than one dollar per day. This is not enough to provide adequate food, let alone the other necessities of life. MyHope continues to support certain families living in extreme poverty with monthly food aid, medical support, and more.

Village Christmas Meals

As you prepare for the holidays, are you thinking about how you can bless the poor this Christmas? We have a program called "Village Christmas Meals" that provides a very tangible blessing each year for many people living in extreme poverty.

There are families living in rural Myanmar who are too poor to afford meat with their meals. These families live on less than a dollar a day, which is barely enough income to provide rice and vegetables. Beef, especially, is a luxury most simply cannot afford. However, there is one time of year when these families look forward to eating meat: at Christmas.

Our Work Is…

Authentically Christian

God has a special place in His heart for the poor and Jesus’ love compels us to have compassion and to take action.

We are an independent, non-denominational Christian organization dedicated to serving Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. We do not discriminate against any group in Myanmar who needs help, and we will help anyone and everyone that we can, regardless of their denomination or religion. We do focus our efforts first on helping the Body of Christ, in obedience to Galatians 6:10, which says,

Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. (HCSV)

Community Based

The best way to help a child is to sustainably grow their community. That starts with clean water, food, access to education, all provided with spiritual and emotional support.

Most of our projects involve working with the local community and local churches to meet the needs. Many of our projects involve creating new communities. For instance, at Hope Boarding School, children from all over northwest Myanmar, from many different villages and denominations, live as brothers and sisters in a community where they learn to come together in Christian unity and love while striving to attain a good education.

Locally Led

While the majority of funding for MyHope comes primarily from the West, our leadership is split equally between East and West. Major decisions regarding new projects, the direction of the ministry, and problem solving are shared by our board and leadership staff on both sides of the globe. However, most decisions regarding the implementation details of most projects is delegated to our leaders and volunteers who are “on the ground.”

We believe that the people we work with know best what their own needs are, and are in a much better position to know how to address those needs. The leadership in the West does not dictate to them what they need, or even how to do their work.

Therefore, MyHope works hard to provide trusted local leaders with the resources and funding they need to get the jobs done, but always with close financial, moral, and spiritual oversight.

100% Volunteer

MyHope is 100% volunteer. We strive to keep our overhead as low as possible in order to maximize the impact of your gifts. Every dollar you give goes into the project or fund of your choice and is measurable with full donor visibility. We post photos and updates to our Facebook page almost every day! facebook.com/myanmarhope

Our motto is a quote from the late missionary to India, Amy Carmichael. Her actions and her words encompass our mission and our attitude toward the people of God and the world at large:

“You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.”

We believe that giving out of love is the true essence of ministry. That belief, and the love of Christ in our hearts, compels us to give our time, our talents, and our treasures to meet the needs of the poorest of the poor and the least of the brothers and sisters of Christ. If you also believe that, and if you have that deep love of Christ and for His people, then won’t you join with us in the ministry of giving?
